Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that the Indonesian government is committed to making every effort to eradicate and eradicate the practice of online gambling, including by establishing a special task force.

“The government is serious about eradicating and eradicating online gambling. We have succeeded in closing more than 2.1 million online gambling sites. “Moreover, the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force will soon be formed,” he said in Jakarta, Wednesday (12/6). ).

Jokowi conveyed this when delivering a press statement on the dangers of online gambling, as witnessed on his secretariat’s YouTube channel. This statement was made in response to recent crimes related to online gambling.

He then underlined that online gambling is a cross-border and transnational organized crime that encourages society to take independent action to fight and avoid it rather than relying solely on government action.

Regarding this matter, the President appealed to the Indonesian people to use their property for halal and beneficial purposes and to avoid gambling.

“It is better to save the money or use it as business capital, because gambling is not just risking money, not just an exciting game with prizes, but risking the future of ourselves, our families and our children,” he stressed.

Jokowi also invited all religious leaders, community leaders and the public to work together to combat online gambling by reminding and protecting each other and reporting indications of online gambling practices to the authorities.
