In the 2024 TTDI released by the World Economic Forum, Indonesia was ranked 22nd globally, a significant jump from the 32nd rank achieved in the 2021 TTDI.

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said Indonesia’s success in improving its Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) ranking has the potential to attract more business actors to invest in Indonesia.

“Investors are monitoring Indonesia’s position. Indonesia is now ranked above Belgium, New Zealand and Türkiye (in TTDI). “This exceeds expectations,” he said at an event celebrating the improvement of TTDI Indonesia in Jakarta, Wednesday.

In the 2024 TTDI released by the World Economic Forum, Indonesia was ranked 22nd globally, a significant jump from the 32nd rank achieved in the 2021 TTDI.

Meanwhile, Belgium is ranked 23rd, New Zealand is ranked 25th, and Turkey is ranked 29th in the latest TTDI ranking.

“Investment inflow will definitely increase. “God willing, we will also see an increase in the number of workers in the tourism sector and the magnitude of the economic impact,” he said.

In his speech, he also outlined the five main pillars of Indonesian tourism according to the TTDI report, with two of them being tourism and travel (P&T) priorities and sustainability of P&T demand.

Apart from that, Indonesian tourism is supported by pillars related to natural resources, socio-economic impacts and cultural resources.

“In terms of socio-economic impact, the contribution of our tourism sector to GDP (gross domestic product) has reached four percent. “Moreover, this sector has empowered around 25 million workers,” he said.

Even though there are positive trends, Sandiaga Uno emphasized the need for Indonesia to pay more attention to pillars related to health and sanitation, tourism services and infrastructure, information and communication technology readiness, openness to P&T, and human resources, the job market and the environment. . continuity.
