Jakarta (ANTARA) – The government is targeting at least 18 more digital public services affected by the cyber attack at the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) No. 2 to recover and serve citizens by the end of June.

“We hope that more tenant services, ministries and government institutions will recover (from cyber attacks). “We estimate that 18 tenants will recover by the end of this month,” Director General of Information and Public Communication at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Usman Kansong, said here, Wednesday (26/6).

The official’s statement was delivered as a follow-up to reports from five institutions whose digital public services were restored after a cyber attack that affected national digital services for almost a week.

The five government institutions that reported the restoration of digital services were the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, the Ministry of Religion, the Directorate General of Immigration, the National Goods and Services Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP), and the Kediri City Government in East Java.

Kansong stated that the restoration of 18 digital services is a short-term goal carried out by ongoing digital forensic investigations.

He also emphasized that the Ministry, National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), state-owned telecommunications company Telkom, and other government agencies would do their best to restore digital public services affected by the hack.

As reported, Monday (24 June), the Ministry and BSSN identified 211 government agencies affected by the cyber attack on PDNS No.2. However, as of Tuesday (25 June), the number had increased to 282.

On Wednesday, some 44 government agencies announced their readiness to carry out data recovery, while others continued their preparations. As a result, the five agencies’ systems recovered after data migration and were able to continue serving citizens.
