Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) and the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) are trying to strengthen their partnership by commemorating the 31st National Family Day (Harganas) on June 29 2024.

It is hoped that the partnership between the Ministry and BKKBN can be further strengthened, especially in socializing and implementing various policies that regulate the fulfillment of children’s rights and protection, said PPPA Minister Bintang Puspayoga in Jakarta, Friday.

The Ministry of PPPA and BKKBN have strengthened the partnership by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU), he added.

The MoU seeks to increase synergy between women’s empowerment and child protection programs with BKKBN’s family planning and development and population planning programs.

The agreement was formed in 2022 with the aim of accelerating stunting reduction and achieving five presidential directives, including increasing women’s empowerment in entrepreneurship with a gender perspective.

Other directions are increasing the role of mothers and families in education and raising children, eliminating violence against women and children, reducing child labor, and preventing child marriage.

In addition, the PPPA Ministry has issued Ministerial Regulation Number 7 of 2022 concerning Improving Family Quality through the Development of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection.

This regulation is intended to be a reference for the central, provincial, district, city and village governments in integrating policies, programs and activities to support improving the quality of families.

The Ministry has also prepared a Family Quality Index which can be a reference for measuring family quality that is gender responsive and has an insight into children’s rights, said Puspayoga.

The Mother and Child Welfare Law (UU KIA) which was passed on June 4 provides a stronger foundation for improving the quality of the nation’s next generation, he added. (INE)
