Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Industry is providing assistance to domestic small and medium batik industries (IKM) to become producers of uniforms for Hajj pilgrims through assistance with product quality standardization.

Head of the Ministry’s Industrial Services Standardization and Policy Agency (BSKJI), Andi Rizaldi in Jakarta, Tuesday, said that standardization assistance was carried out by helping IKM obtain a Product Certificate Using the SNI Mark (SPPT-SNI).

SNI stands for Indonesian National Standard, and the ministry has been helping small industries to obtain standardization so they can apply for halal product certification.

Halal product certificates are obtained from the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH) of the Ministry of Religion.

According to Rizaldi, this step was taken considering the large potential for the halal industry in Indonesia, with 236 million Muslims.

“Domestic halal products have great potential. “Indonesia, as a country with the second largest Muslim population in the world, is also a potential market for halal products, especially religious equipment,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Industry’s Center for Textile Industry Services and Standardization (BBSPJI) is also involved in assisting small businesses.

Head of BBSPJI Cahyadi explained that the coaching aims to ensure that SMEs can meet standardization of raw materials and production processes.

Participants also learn how to set up a batik uniform making workshop, have proof of batik making ability, have batik mark certification, and have obtained or are pursuing halal certification from BPJPH.

Cahyadi explained that this assistance increases the efficiency of batik and textile SMEs because it helps them fulfill several requirements at once.

In this way, industry players who have passed standardization can enter the batik market, especially for Hajj pilgrims from Indonesia.

“We always prioritize integrated industrial solutions that provide benefits for SMEs so that they can meet several regulations and standards requested by users,” he said.
